94th Annual Academy Awards Winners and Show Recap

94th Oscars

The most talked-about moment from the 94th Academy Award won't be who won but the moment when Chris Rock insulted Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith went on stage and smacked the comedian squarely on the face. The broadcast went silent and words were exchanged but Australian audiences' broadcast was not muted. Will Smith went on to win the Best Actor Oscar, and tearfully accepted while apologizing to the room and the Academy for his outburst. However here are the winners (in bold) for the night.

The opening of the 94th Academy Awards was memorable with Beyonce opening the show with a performance of "Be Alive" from the KING RICHARD film. Then Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes entertained with some funny bits and took some swipes a la Ricky Gervais at some of the nominated films. The three hosts definitely livened up the three-hour-plus telecast.

Unfortunately, the most talked-about moment is the smackdown between Chris Pratt and Will Smith.  The interaction certainly caused some awkwardness, especially with Lupita N'yongo sitting behind Smith. Smith later accepted his Best Actor award for KING RICHARD thanking the usual people but also referring to protecting his family while in tears.
