Director James Wan and his writing partner Leigh Whannel have had much success in the low-budget horror genre with the "Saw" franchise, "Insidious", "The Conjuring" and their most recent collaboration in the sequel INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2. The two met as film students in Australia which led to writing "Saw", their Hollywood calling card. Since then, the two are the go-to-guys for low-budget horror fare. You might also recognize Leigh Whannel as "Specs" in both "Insidious" movies.
CineMovie sat down with Wan and Whannel and reveal the tricks to writing a sequel that doesn't repeat the original formula and what to keep in mind when writing a horror script.
INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2 haunts movie theatres on Friday, the 13th of September.
