Michael Caine Calls The Dark Knight Rises' Plot 'Extraordinary'

Michael Caine did not join his CARS 2 co-stars Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Emily Mortimer, and Eddie Izzard in person at the Los Angeles press day Saturday, June 18. CineMovie sat down with all the CARS 2 stars but the English actor made an appearance via satellite from London where he is currently shooting the heavily-guarded Christopher Nolan Batman movie.
In the interview, Sir Michael Caine boasted about the plot of the movie, calling it "extraordinary" and Christopher Nolan the "greatest director" in the world. While everything about this movie is top secret including the story, we can gather from his comments that things don't go well for the cape crusader in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. "They all come home shot to pieces," said Caine.
He also added that Alfred has "to patch them together." What's also interesting is that he uses plural words like "everybody" and "they." We're not going to read much into it since he might be just throwing us off so Christopher Nolan isn't too upset with him since he joked the Batman director had all his actors sign "the Officials Secrets Act." Besides with a new cast of newbies that includes Tom Hardy (Inception), Anne Hathaway as Catwomen, Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket), Tom Conti, Joey King, and The Social Network actor Josh Pence - it could mean one of those actors gets in on the fight.

The returning cast are the usual suspects with Christian Bale reprising the Dark Knight, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, and our informant Michael Caine.
Don't be mad at Sir Michael, Mr. Nolan. These tidbits only wets our appetite even more.
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is in movie theaters next summer July 20, 2011. Michael Caine can next be heard as a James Bond-type spy car in CARS 2 June 24.

"I started filming last week and I film next week. Because as the butler, I do a load of filming at the beginning, and everybody goes off and does all the adventures and they all come home shot to pieces and I patch them together when they all get back. So... Christopher Nolan, I think, is one of the greatest directors in the world and I've been lucky enough. This is my fifth movie with him. It's such a pleasure to work with him and he's so clever. We've all signed the Official Secrets Act. I'm lucky to be able to tell you the title of the movie. I remember I did an interview and someone said to me, "What are you doing next?" I said, "I'm doing Batman." I saw Chris and he said, "Why did you tell them you were doing Batman?" I said, "Because I am." He said, "You're supposed to keep it secret." I said, "I couldn't keep that a secret." Let me tell you --the plot is extraordinary -- really extraordinary. I know why he wants to keep it a secret. You really need not to know until you see the movie."
