2018 Golden Globes Full List of Movie Nominees: Diversity Report Card

As expected A STAR IS BORN is a contender this year with five nominations for Best Motion Picture, Drama, Best Directing for Bradley Cooper including for Best Actor, Drama. Lady Gaga also is a nominee this year for Best Actress. The period piece starring Rachel Weisz, Emma Stone and Olivia Colman also earned five noms for the all three actresses, Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy and Best Screenplay.

In the diversity category, Marvel's BLACK PANTHER received three nominations for Best Picture and in the two music categories. IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK has three nominations including for director Barry Jenkins for Best Screenplay and Best Motion Picture, Drama, and a Best Supporting Actress for Regina King. Spike Lee's BLACKKKLANSMAN is in the running for Best Motion Picture, Drama, Best Director and Adam Driver for Best Supporting Actor and Denzel Washington's son John David Washington earned his first award nomination in the Best Actor category.

Additionally, CRAZY RICH ASIANS is up for BEST MOTION PICTURE, MUSICAL OR COMEDY and Constance Wu as Best Actress in a musical or comedy. For Latinos, Alfonso Cuaron is making waves again with three nominations with his Spanish drama, ROMA and Lin-Manuel Miranda is among the nominees for Best Actor in a musical or comedy for MARY POPPINS RETURNS.

While this year looks slightly better for non-white actors and filmlmakers, more diverse casting must be a priority.
