Timothée Chalamet’s A COMPLETE UNKNOWN has surpassed expectations, earning $120 million worldwide. It also earned $73 million domestically, with international numbers coming in at $46 million.
The Movie is Now Streaming on Numerous Platforms
The new Bob Dylan biopic is now being streamed on numerous platforms, including Prime Video, Fandango at Home and Apple TV+. Filmed in New Jersey, production teams worked hard to transform local streets so they replicated that of Manhattan in the 1960s, something viewers across the world can now experience via online streaming services. But it’s not just movies that have benefitted from the online movement. Music icons like Jon Bon Jovi, Frank Sinatra and Bruce Springsteen all made a name for themselves in the state, but have since gone on to experience global acclaim, with streaming helping to provide a resurgence for classic New Jersey music once again.
Other entertainment verticals, including gaming, have also benefited from the online movement. Now you can play at a real money online casino NJ even if you’re in a different state, or different country altogether. With classic games like poker, blackjack, craps and roulette now available in a digital format, along with numerous slot games, the online movement has helped to put successful NJ entertainment on a global platform for all to enjoy.
The Movie Surpassed All Expectations
For a music biopic, the movie has surpassed a lot of expectations. It’s been a huge success for the company, Searchlight Pictures, and so far it is their sixth-highest-grossing release for the domestic market. Chalamet plays Bob Dylan himself, who travels from Minnesota to Greenwich Village. With just his guitar, he was able to make a huge impression with his talent. The story follows him as he forges new relationships while he attempts to navigate his newfound fame. It also covers the folk movement, as he refuses to be defined by a single genre.
The most iconic moment in A COMPLETE UNKNOWN, which critics say director James Mangold captured perfectly, would be when Dylan strapped on his electric guitar at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965. This was a pivotal moment in his career, and Chalamet managed to pull it off.
Edward Norton also stars in the movie, known for his role in FIGHT CLUB, where he starred alongside Brad Pitt. The movie is directed by Mangold, with the screenplay done by both himself and Jay Cocks. Mangold is known for working with several musical biopics, one of his most famous works being Walk the Line, which followed the story of Johnny Cash.
The film is set for a physical release on April 1st with several bonus features. Some of them include several behind-the-scenes featurettes, including a “making of” segment. Timothée Chalamet is also set to give some interviews which will be included, along with full audio commentary by Mangold. Although fans will have to wait a bit longer for the physical release and all the extra content, the fact that it is streaming right now should give Dylan fans something to be cracking on with.
