CineMovie went trolling through DreamWorks Animation Studio in Glendale, CA for a sneak peek at the animated movie TROLLS starring the voices of Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake, Last week, Timberlake and Kendrick along with TROLLS filmmakers gave us a sneak peek with a few clips and samples of the music, which Timberlake is responsible for as the music producer on the soundtrack. Take a look at the brand spanking new movie trailer below.
From the creators of Shrek, TROLLS enters a colorful, wondrous world populated by hilariously unforgettable characters and discover the story of the overly optimistic Trolls, with a constant song on their lips, and the comically pessimistic Bergens, who are only happy when they have trolls in their stomach. James Cordon, Russell Brand, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Zooey Deschanel, Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Kunal Nayyar, Ron Funches, Icona Pop, Qevenzhan Wallis, John Cleese, and Gwen Stefani also lend their vocal abilities to the movie.
At the event with the stars and producer Gina Shay, director Mike Mitchell and Walt Dorn, they introduced us to the main characters. Poppy (Anna Kendrick)is the happiest troll in the all of troll land. Poppy sets out to rescue her friends from the troll-eaten Bergens and hopes to do it with her song, dance, and hugging skills. Branch (Justin Timberlake)– lives in a survival Bunker, only troll in the village who doesn’t sing, dance or hug. He is very anti-social and dislikes the over-the-top positivity of the other trolls.
Anna Kendrick’s favorite Troll is the Jeweled-belly button troll. She definitely prefers trolls over Barbies. Co-star Justin Timberlake agrees.
From what was screened at the event, the world of the movie looks hand-made. The trolls from the 90’s have come to life in this world of hand-crafted animation complete with amazing textures, felt, glitter, and amazing multi-functional hair! Arts and crafts fans, hair fans, music fans, JT and Anna Kendrick followers will definitely fall in love with TROLLS.
If you need to be served a HUGE dose of happiness, TROLLS takes you in a musical journey where losing it and getting it back in it-self is an adventure. The music in this movie helps this amazing story of friendship move forward in arrangements never before heard with the credit going to Executive Music Producer Justin Timberlake and his producing team. The 3D animated film has been in the making since 2013, and producers picked over 1,000 songs and narrowed it down from there.
The music arranged includes the "Clint Eastwood" song by GORILLAZ which describes the world of the Bergens, giants who only find their momentary happiness by filling their stomach with felty cute trolls. Other songs include “Sound of Silence” by Simon & Garfunkel, “True Colors” by Zed, and finally “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” composed by Justin Timberlake and song by Poppy, voiced by Anna Kendrick. This process according to Justin Timberlake was personally nerve-wracking. What will the original composers of such iconic songs think of his arrangements? “Oh well, [the songs] are already in the movie,” he tosses.
By the way, “Don’t eat the cupcakes,” director Mike Mitchell warns of the colorful desserts that come out of a trolls behind. That may not be edible, but this fun-looking DreamWorks movie will be devoured by audiences when it hits theaters November 4th.
