Three-time Tony Award and Grammy award-winning actress/singer Patti LuPone joins Marvel's coven in Agatha All Along starring Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza. The multi-talented star says playing a witch in the MCU was her destiny.
After Wanda stripped Agatha Harkness powers in WANDAVISION, Kathryn Hahn's centuries-old witch seeks out a new coven to find The Witches' Road and regain her powers in Disney+'s 8-episode, Agatha All Along.
Marvel Television’s “Agatha All Along” stars Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, with Debra Jo Rupp, with Patti LuPone, and Aubrey Plaza.
Patti Lupone's Lilia Calderu is a tarot-reading witch when Agatha finds her and recruits her to find The Witches' Road.
LuPone admitted playing a witch wasn't too much of a stretch.
"Well, I think I am a witch. [laughs] I do," she revealed at the press conference for the series. "I think I'm a Sicilian witch. But I thought I was a Sicilian witch before I get a telephone call from Jac and Mary. And it just sort of, it was like destiny. It was like the universe was unfolding because I had just done something that started out as a bathhouse singer and ended up being a tarot card reader.
And then all of a sudden, I was in a world where things were similar to things that had just occurred. And there was no turning back, really. It was destiny."
Suffice it to say, LuPone was in her element especially when it came to her favorite set, The Witches' Road.
"When we walked onto the set, I think several of us burst into tears or started weeping. Because I don't think, in my case, I've ever seen a more beautiful set in my life. And it was stunning. It just was stunning."
Marvel Television’s “Agatha All Along” premieres this Wednesday, September 18, at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET, with the first two episodes, exclusively on Disney+.
