Last year, director/writer Rian Johnson was the most hated man for his changes to the STAR WARS saga with THE LAST JEDI, but his latest KNIVES OUT may win back some of those haters. KNIVES OUT is outrageously good with a great cast, and once again the filmmaker takes risks to bring us a fresh take on the murder mystery genre.
The KNIVES OUT A-list cast includes Ana de Armas (BLADE RUNNER), Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Daniel Craig, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Colette, LaKeith Stanfield, Christopher Plummer, Katherine Langford ("13 Reasons Why), and Jaeden Martell (IT: CHAPTER 2).
While the genre isn't new, Rian Johnson wrote and directed an original story with surprising twists and turns that keep you on your feet. A wry sense of humor keeps you in stitches for the entire 2 hours with some political undertones. The end result is an entertaining story along with a subliminal love letter to a certain group that has been vilified in the last few years.
Official Synopsis:
When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan's dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan's untimely death.
