Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson continue to make a great team in the second season of Marvel's Loki. The second season flows at a better pace now that the Time Variance Authority (TVA) is no longer a foreign concept. With that out of the way, we can enjoy the buddy comedy of Loki and Mobius at the center of the fun.
The new season picks up in the aftermath of Sylvie killing He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors). The TVA is about to implode unless Loki and Morbius can save the day with the help of B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) and Ke Huy Quan joining the cast. Rafael Casal (BLINDSPOTTING) is also new to the Marvel series.
Having watched the first four episodes of the new six-episode series, this season has a different vibe which improves on the last outing. Head writer Michael Waldron and director Kate Herron headed up the first season but did not return. Filmmaking partners Aaron Moorhead (V/H/S: VIRAL) and Justin Benson, who helmed two episodes of Moon Knight bring more familiarity to this alternative universe.
Hiddleston brings his usual charm to the Marvel villain turned hero which ironically they address on the show. Along with Wilson's Mobius, the banter between the two is the main attraction in a good cop, bad cop dynamic.
The addition of Quan is a breath of fresh air as the TVA architect OB. Jonathan Majors turns in quite a different performance as Victor Timely. This character is very different from the first season's Time Keeper and ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA's Kang the Conqueror.
Another fun aspect from season 2 is Miss Minutes' reversal of personality. Don't be fooled by the Southern Charm. Voiced by actress Tara Strong, this CGI character is a scene-stealer.
Although the characters throw out a bunch of information about the TVA's past, it's not as difficult to follow along unlike the first season. The stakes are obvious and at an all-time high.
The first two episodes are now streaming with a new episode dropping every Thursday on Disney+.
