.

LOVE RANCH Movie Review

"They keep trying to work it out, don't they. They keep trying.  If we could just find that lightning - we've got a franchise for the next twenty years but it's very difficult and doesn't happen easily," said the British actress.
CineMovie sat down with the LOVE RANCH star and Spanish co-star Sergio Peris-Mencheta who sizzle on screen in a love triangle set in the world of a Nevada brothel. In another award-winning performance, Mirren adopts an American accent for her latest role as a brothel madam engaging in an affair with her husband's (Joe Pesci) business venture - a washed up boxer (Sergio Peris-Mencheta.

To find an actor worthy of seducing the award-winning actress, LOVE RANCH director and Mirren's real life husband Taylor Hackford (Ray, Officer and a Gentleman) turned to an established actor from Spain.  During the audition, Dame Mirren had no doubts Sergio Peris-Mencheta would play her much younger lover, not because of the chemistry but his acting skills. "It's called good acting. Actually it's great acting," said the actress. Sergio who makes his American debut with LOVE RANCH chimed in and claimed it was his good "hugs and kisses" that got him the role.

Mirren admitted Sergio's statement is true and part of the "acting thing". "Someone who has the courage just to do that and does what's needed when needed. It was looking at a face that's here and seeing everything and more. That's right here in the eyes" referring to her co-star Sergio.

So can chemistry be learned? Not so according to the regal thespian who describes on screen chemistry as "the ultimate magic" or "lightning in a bottle."
"You can't work on that. That either happens or doesn't happen.  It's a mystery that thing about chemistry because often people hate each other in real life and hate each other on set but have great chemistry on screen. And people who love each other, love each other on set and have absolutely no chemistry whatsoever.  It's very, very mysterious."

However, if someone could figure it out according to Dame Helen Mirren, that person or filmmaker would be "very, very wealthy." One actress she desperately hopes can find that "lightening in the bottle" is Jennifer Aniston whose made a career out of romantic comedies. "Please it must work with someone because we know how brilliant she is," the LOVE RANCH star proclaimed.

Helen Mirren does not claim to be an expert on the subject matter but her long career is proof the actress knows a thing or two about Hollywood.
