Carol Madrigal and Virginia Sotela are WETA FX's Motion Editors, and the two Latinas discuss their job of turning the actors into primates for the KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. CineMovie also chats with the women about working in a male-dominated field.
Madrigal's credits include Marvel’s ETERNALS, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and James Cameron’s AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER. Before Joining Wētā FX, Carol worked as a Post Production Manager and Motion Editor for Profile Studios where she worked on Marvel and Star Wars projects. As a motion editor, she takes the data captured on the MoCap stage, edits it and translates it into the shot environment to make the motion look natural and believable.
Virginia's credit also includes AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER and Steven Spielberg’s The BFG. As a Motion Editor, she works with realistic motion-captured performances of characters and creatures and fine-tunes them to the highest quality standards. As a senior editor she gets to work with some of the most challenging shots and also gets to help newer editors if they need it.
KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is now in movie theaters.
